Champix tablets contain an ingredient called Varenicline, which works on receptors in the brain to stop the craving for cigarettes. It also helps to stop receptors from getting stimulated by nicotine, the addictive substance in cigarettes, so the effects aren’t as pleasing.

  • Is it safe to use Champix tablets continuously?

    The usual course of treatment for Champix tablets to help you quit smoking is 12 weeks. This can be extended by another 12 weeks if necessary. We would not recommend using it continuously for longer than 24 weeks.

  • How long will it take for Champix tablets to help me stop smoking?

    Champix tablets take approximately one week to build up, and it takes at least five weeks to see the full benefits.

  • What should I do if I miss a dose of Champix tablets?

    Take the missed Champix tablets when you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed tablet. Do not take two tablets together to make up for the missed one.

  • Can I take Champix tablets and drive?

    The Champix stopping-smoking medication does not make you drowsy and should not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. If you do feel drowsy after taking Champix, you should not drive or operate machinery.

Side Effects

There is always a risk of side effects with all quit-smoking medications. Some of these can be quite mild and can subside over time. Others are more serious and should be reported to your GP right away if you experience any side effects.
